OUR HISTORY
The Developmental Enhancement Life and Training Alliance Incorporated (DELTA Incorporated) was formed by the members of the Birmingham Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The desire to own property grew from the need for a place to hold chapter meetings, committee meetings, projects and programs, and house chapter property. In 1993 BAC authorized its Housing Committee to apply for incorporation after accepting the committee’s recommendation of name, purpose and mission. June 19, 1994, DELTA Inc. was granted incorporation status as a 501(c)3 non-profit philanthropic foundation to 1) eliminate liability of Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 2) receive grant funding as well as, contributions from individuals and organizations who contribute to 501(c)3 non-profits entities to assist in carrying out the mission of DELTA Inc. The history, longevity, and future of the 501(c)3, DELTA, Inc. continues in its 15-member Board of Directors. The Board is strengthened through its resolve and commitment to its mission. It is fully committed to the community as it continues to seek funding for scholarship opportunities for the youth and services for the elderly.
